Friday, August 25, 2023 - Infinite Summer Glitch
HELLO EVERYONE!!
Hope everyone is doing well, we have some big news...I AM 1 MONTH OLD!!! Crazy to think that I have already been out here for that long. I feel like I have been a missionary for so so long but also no time at all. I ALSO GOT MY FLIGHT PLANS! I fly to Panama City at 5:50 in the morning(😭) on September 7th and then fly to El Salvador later that day. Crazy stuff. Less than 2 weeks left in Mexico🤯
In other important news, my spanish teacher Hermano Hernandez got a girlfriend. He was telling us about how Olivia Rodrigo used to make him sad because he would think about his ex, but now not so much. We asked him if he had a girlfriend and he said he did. We were all confused because we had already asked him, and he hit us with one of the coldest bars of all time: "you asked me last week😏." We all freaked out of course. Don't even worry everyone we have met her, she is a teacher here at the Mexico Training Center.
Hernandez is just such a cool guy. He is only 21 so he is basically our age, and he will just do random stuff like say he has the best griddy in Mexico, teach us handshakes, ask if he has rizz, calling us his boys, and randomly start singing pop songs. He definitely helps the 4 hour class go by faster.
In Hunger Games comparison news, there was some extra time after a devotional we had about feeling the Holy Ghost, and the Mission President decided he would call 2 random missionaries to come up and bear their testimony on the spot in front of all 1000 missionaries. Very glad I was not selected for this surprise reaping🫣
Probably the best time of the week is P-Day Eve. P-Day is preparation day, where I don't have classes and can email home. So on P-Day Eve, we go to the store here on the campus and buy snacks, and at night we play games. Last night we invented a new game called Picklesack with some recently gifted pickleball paddles, a hacky sack, and chairs to divide our room. Pictures will be attached, but it is so much fun.
In more sad news, Emma Beckstead, Sadie Willis, and Ryan Whisamore left the CCM this week😭 muy triste. It was really sad to see them go, but as Celine Dion once said, my heart will go on. I am way glad they were able to be here at the same time as me though, it was so so fun. Shoutout to those guys and hopefully Puebla and Uruguay are aware they got some good ones.
The reason for the title of the email is that today is August 25th. I still feel like it is July. It gets weird thinking about people being in school, which is why I am kind of in an infinite summer glitch. There really is no concept of time on my mission, the weather is staying nice, I don't go to school, I just do missionary stuff. I am super grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and share his message with others.
Thank you for everyone who responds to my emails! I love reading them! Send me pictures of what you are doing, tell me what you are up to, anything!!
Talk to you all next week!!
