Monday, November 6, 2023 - Swag like Ohio🌎

Hey everyone!!

IMPORTANT: EVERYONE SEND ME PICTURES OF YOUR HALLOWEEN COSTUMES AND WHAT YOU DID/HOW IT WAS PLEASE🎃

This week was honestly kind of slow but it was alright at the same time. Just kind of one of those weeks I think. Gotta remember I'm still in training and have adjustments to make and such, but I'll share some fun stuff from the week!!

Had exchanges with Elder Staples this week! He is super fun and loves movies and stuff so it was fun to talk to him about all that type of stuff! This is his last transfer so he only has like 3 weeks left until he goes home but he is still super motivated and a great missionary! Exchanges also means staying in the 4 person house which is always so so fun too!! They have a "pet" dog that they feed named Mototaxi because he only has 3 legs, and they just leave bread and cereal out for him so that's kinda cool. 

We went to visit a family and this guy was keeping a weirdly close eye on us, and then we saw him flash a gang sign at a car so we kinda ran out of there pretty fast. Also saw an old gang mural thing on a wall of a neighborhood we were in. Even though it's so much safer here now there is still the history and it is kind of scary still. 

Halloween was rainy here so it kind of got moved to Saturday. Our neighborhood put on a trick or treating activity for the kids, and my neighbors went ALL OUT on decorations and everything. They also played "This is Halloween" for an hour and 40 minutes straight which was kind of special! Some people came by and got really excited to see us and asked if their kids could take a picture with us, and then the parents hopped in too. Thought maybe they just thought it was cool to see some gringos? But once we left our neighbors told us that they thought we were just white guys DRESSED UP as missionaries for our costumes, which was honestly pretty hilarious. 

Now for the weirdest part of the week. We got a text on Sunday morning from a lady in the ward asking if we could come to church 45 minutes early to be there with her friend from the states. This guy was on vacation visiting his friend, and the friend's wife is sisters with this lady at church, and he wanted to come too! His name is Jim and he is from Cleveland Ohio. Super random to have a guy from the states there at church that isn't another missionary but it was really fun to do some missionary work in English! He really liked church a lot and we are going to send him the information of the missionaries in Cleveland. So the Ohio missionaries better watch out for good old Jim😝

Lastly we saw like hundreds of people and cars at the mall walking home last night, and we were trying to figure out why. Turns out Santa was coming to visit💀 kinda crazy that so many people were so excited for Santa in November. 

Overall this week was a little bit hard, but I have to remember to have faith. We need faith to remember that we can progress and get better, as well as improve ourselves every day!!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a good Christmas and that you'll enjoy New Years!  Christmas Eve and Christmas were pretty fun! We got to stay out late and ate a lot of food and also sang lots of Christmas Carols so it was pretty fun honestly! We went to a kind of far away part of our area the other day and we got to play soccer with these kids which was pretty fun. We also saw these like 5 random super little puppies which was pretty cute We had a musical number in sacrament where all of the missionaries sang and a family and Investigator of the church played instruments! It was really fun Yesterday it was raining so hard, the streets just completely flooded and we got soaked but our shoes were actually just filled with water it was a little bit uncomfortable hahaha but it was pretty funny I hope everyone has a good New Years!! Friday, September 1, 2023 - Mason Ramsey in Mexico City💯👀 (EMOTIONAL)

Hey peeps, Things here are starting to get a little more repetitive, but it's ok because my next email that will be sent will be from EL SALVADOR!!! I have about 5 days here left and then I'm off to the actual mission field!! I'm nervous but so so so excited to get going! To close out the Hunger Games at the CCM, we had determined that whoever in our district got picked to speak in church this past week would become Peeta, but sadly no one from our district got picked🤧 or so we THOUGHT. SURPRISE SECOND ROUND REAPING ELDER HALL IS OUR PEETA🦅 There are some Elders here who are going to serve in this rural place in Guatemala and they have to learn this language called xiatchi or something? I don't even know how to spell it, but one of the three bore their testimony in the language and the other said a closing prayer!! Super super cool stuff! Makes me glad I'm just learning spanish😅 We started doing only Spanish classes this week instead of a spiritual class in the m...

Monday, February 3, 2025 - Return of the King

Hey everybody! Hope you are all doing well! This week was pretty solid, I'll get into it We had our english class as usual which was pretty fun on Wednesday I went to Santa Tecla for this mission leadership meeting (that I usually don't go to) so that was really fun to go and be back in Merliot and stay the night at my old house where I lived for 7 months, especially because all of my old housemates are still there so that was pretty cool. I also got to see a lot of mission friends which is always fun Other than that we got stranded in Versalles for a sec which was a little stressful, we resorted to hitchhiking because there was no bus but that is what happens I guess. We did eventually get home though A guy that me and Elder LaMarr talked to in the street got baptised yesterday which was super cool! He lives in another area but it was still cool to see that!
